Remuneration
Basic salaries and allowances are net of income tax.
Staff members are recruited at pay step one of the grade in question. Subject to satisfactory performance, higher steps are awarded in subsequent years. Annual adjustments are normally applied to all steps in respect of changes in salary due to the cost of living.

Basic salary is the salary applicable to the grade of the post. The salary scales applicable in OCCAR are as follows:
Allowances are paid under certain conditions (depending on the personal circumstances and family situation of the staff member) and on production of the relevant documents. The main allowances are as follows:
Expatriation Allowance
Staff members not being national of the host country shall be entitled to Expatriation Allowance of 18% of basic salary if they are entitled to household allowance, or 14% otherwise. However, after 5 years of service the expatriation allowance reduces by 1% per year.

Household Allowance
Married staff members and widowed, divorced, legally separated or unmarried staff members with a dependent child shall be entitled to Household Allowance of 6% of their basic salary.
Dependent Children’s Allowance (DCA)
This allowance is paid to staff members, whether married or not, for each child under 18 years of age for whom they are legally responsible. It is also paid for each such child recognised as handicapped whatever the age of the child.
Education allowance
An education allowance for each dependent child who is still studying and under 26 years of age, is normally paid to staff members entitled to the expatriation allowance. Details can be obtained by contacting OCCAR HRD.
